Las Vegas 100 Piece Marimba BandIn 1933, Clair Omar Musser formed a 100-piece marimba International Marimba Symphony Orchestra (IMSO) as the featured entertainment for the Century of Progress Exposition. The IMSO then toured Europe performing for kings and queens and sold-out concert halls with phenomenal musical success, gold medals, awards and critical acclaim before returning to perform at New York's Carnegie Hall...Musser presented several other concerts in the following years with up to 300 marimbists that became legendary in the percussion world. This was the "hey-day" of the marimba and concert experience that very few people today would have the opportunity to experience. We are going to re-create this experience on April 26th, 2008 and invite your studens to participate in this exciting and historical event... The arrangements will allow for two players per instrument, which the performers will need to bring, to accommodate space. If you or your students are interested in participating in this special concert, please notify me of your interest by e-mail and I will forward all of the relevant information in the New Year.
